“Hey Gilbert,” Ivan said after a moment of nothing but white-noise. “Do you know what is happening?” The German knew he wasn’t asking about their immediate situation, no, he was referring to those affected by the disease, the towns that had been destroyed from both warfare and abandonment, the current state of the world, and more importantly; where they were supposed to go, and what they were supposed to do.
Gilbert thought for a moment, leaning back enough to get comfortable on the log. Ivan watched in disbelief as he surveyed the other’s actions. He threw his head back, a wide, almost morbid smile twisting across pale features. “It’s the end of the world, baby.” He declared, “We’ve gotta do whatever it takes to survive this shit-hole for as long as we can.” -

Formally 'Human'
After a an outbreak of undead bringing on the end of the world Mako Rutledge a small time farmer isolated himself from the rest of the world, deciding that staying away from cities and civilization was the only way for him to survive.
That was until he ran out of food and had no choice but to travel to the nearest town. Unfortunately he picks up more than what he hoped for meeting a young survivor who has a deal in mind for him.

Summary
Life drawing. They had had all kinds of models throughout the semester and now they had to go out and “stretch their wings,” “find their muse.” Ultimately, they had to ask one of their unimates to sit in (preferably) their underwear for several hours so that they could draw them. Everyone else is talking about cheerleaders or classmates they want to draw, but Jamie knows exactly who he wants to use.

Mako Rutledge is a man with a hefty history, but who he was back then is dead. Now he lives reborn in the Church, forgiven, a new man. Or at least he likes to believe so. Old habits are hard to kill, especially when a centuries old menace reawakens the skeletons of his past.
