Summary
Peridan thought that the hard part was over. Instead of burning with unrequited love, Edmund loved him in return. For his part, Edmund left the Lone Islands astonished by the depth of his feelings for Peridan when he had only just discovered them. It should have been a simple happy ever after. But circumstances keep separating Edmund and Peridan: espionage missions to Calormen, foreign princesses sent to court Edmund, jealousy, and still for Peridan, the fear of hatred. Love alone does not guarantee happiness, so they must find a way to overcome the obstacles, if they can. Peridan has just returned from his vision-quest, but Edmund has some troubling news waiting for him.

The first page in the dossier reads in Edmund's handwriting: The other day we were reminiscing about the beginning of us and you challenged me with ‘It was so easy for you.’ Well, my good lord, firstly after so many years you should know better than to challenge me. I have gone back through my journals (no mean feat, as I am the world’s most erratic journal keeper and this collection spanned several notebooks and scraps of parchment) to prove that actually it was not easy at all. In fact, the whole story is set against the backdrop of the most disastrous diplomatic envoy in Narnian history and a battle for our Archen friends where we were lucky to come out alive.

In short, an epic love story between these two guys that spans time and worlds. A little bit of everything: hurt, comfort, angst, even a bit of smut as Peridan and Edmund discover each other. Eventually five stories which, in the canon timeline, take us all the way to the Last Battle in the canon timeline.
