Experience this twist on the story of Pokemon X and Y, TODAY!Victor's never really been interested in becoming a trainer, or so he tells himself. He's seen how his classmates treated their pokemon, and he doesn't want to be anything like them. He also doesn't care that he's barely seen his father for four years. It doesn't bother him.
So, when his father offers to have him stay with him while he works as an intern for Professor Sycamore, he's just doing it to pad his CV. It's close enough to true for him to believe.Instead of a summer of busywork, he is saddled with a pokemon, and asked to travel across the region. How inconvenient, he thinks, but he'd never mistreat a pokemon. Soon enough, he has a full team of six, and eight gym badges, and imminent doom to prevent.
This is a rewrite of THE ANTITHESIS OF DEATH, but it has many new scenes, and is an improvement upon my previous work, or so I'd like to believe.

Victor Smith has many traits in common with a vampire. Pale skin, a reasonable level of wealth, a distain for religious iconography, but most importantly, he doesn't see himself when he looks in the mirror. Sure, he controls the body he sees, but does that make it him? No, he's just a parasite, living the life his mum had planned for the real Victor Smith, whoever that is, because he's something less. The ghost of the ghost in the shell.
Maybe Kalos can teach him how to live, rather than survive.Series
