He looks back to Rey and she is still standing by the window, leaning her forehead against the cool surface, and now that Ben is really looking at her, he sees how the desert is still clinging to her clothes and hair and he notices the tired slant to her shoulders.
"If you want to wash the sand off there's a fresher down the hall," he offers.
Rey turns her head to look at him, not really pushing away from the glass, just smushing her cheek into the window, and frowns.
"Am I that filthy?"
Ben feels himself flush bright red.
"Uh, no," he says, panicking slightly. "I just thought you'd maybe like to be clean before you go to sleep. You must be tired."
"Tired," Rey repeats flatly, as though the concept hadn't even occurred to her.
"Yeah, it's been a long day. And you look..." but she's frowning now, and something in her expression indicates that he's dug a hole for himself and he's only deepening that deep, unforgiving pit with each additional word out of his stupid, clumsy mouth.
"...tired," he finally finishes lamely.- Language:
