“Says who?” James snorts. “I could totally pull you, mate. You’re just stubborn. I don’t know how you’ve lived with me so long and you haven’t tried to shag me yet.”
Everybody in the room lets out a groan in unison, all muttering variations of I hate you and you’re so bloody full of yourself, and Regulus just muttered “get your head out of your arse, Potter,” and snorted, sitting up to take James’ face in his hands, squeezing his cheeks together. “You can’t. I’m too smart.”
James hums, then he giggles and leans in, rubbing his nose against Regulus’. Regulus grins, cheeks flushing. “I totally could,” he says quietly, voice thick and scratchy.

“Do you think I’m a good person, Sirius?”
The question caught Sirius off guard, although he should’ve known it was flitting around Regulus’s mind. Regulus had always answered questions with questions, refusing to tip his hand unless forced.
“I don’t know,” Sirius admitted slowly, “I really wish I did.”
Regulus’s eyes widened once more, as if he was genuinely surprised by Sirius’s answer. “I’m trying, Siri, I--”
And Sirius cut him off once more. “I don’t think I believe in trying, Reg. I think you are the things that you do, it’s that simple.”

Summary
Regulus has it all figured out. He keeps men on a rotating roster so none can get too close, works nights as a dancer to make the most of his chronic insomnia, and pushes everything he doesn’t want to remember about the past ten years into the recesses of his mind. It’s easier to pretend none of it ever happened.
But when James Potter crashes into Regulus’ life with his fancy sports car, wealth beyond measure, and devil’s smile, it marks a switch in the natural order of things. Regulus thought after what happened when Sirius came out, his mother would have reacted differently when it was his turn to make the confession. That she wouldn’t lose both sons. But he was wrong.
That’s how he finds himself waiting to be picked-up by the brother he hasn’t seen in 3 years. Ready to crash on his couch in the small city of Berkeley, California.
Sirius’ flatmates are a far cry from his London friends. There’s his boyfriend, Remus. A graduate student who plays albums that sound more like noise than melody. Peter, who’s quiet and kind and brings everyone coffee and bagels from his job. And James, who seems intent on ignoring Regulus’ presence completely, even when Regulus gets a job beside him at their local record shop.
Or, James Potter was doing his best not to defile his roommate's younger brother because Sirius told him to “keep his slutty hands off of Regulus or else," but finds himself unable to keep the promise.
