His nightmares hadn’t gone away.
Feathers rustling in the wind, Grian gazed up toward the night sky. Sighing heavily, he glanced back toward Pearl’s tent. She had offered for him to join her many times– avians were highly sociable after all, and often slept in the same nest– but he’d refused. He wouldn’t want to wake her up as well.
It didn’t make sense.
Dreams of a desert, of cold silver skin, of red eyes and names and flowers and blood. And every day they’d gotten worse. More vivid.
Whatever it was, it wasn’t something Grian had the energy to figure out right now. He needed sleep.
He stood up and walked back to his own tent, and settled down for what would be another restless night.

Jimmy, who had been surveying the horizon, turned to the two, “The ship is coming towards us, it’s about a mile away, slightly on our port-side.” He used one arm to direct Lizzie in the right spot.
“Blimey.” She furrowed her brow, “Did you take a bearing on it?”
Jimmy nodded, “Yeah, it’s reading the same or very similar consistently.”
Still looking out over the boat and navigating the massive waves, Lizzie gritted her teeth, “See if you can get a look at what flags they’re flying. This isn’t a super popular crossing for piracy, but it’s not unheard of.”
Gem gripped the wooden slats of the cockpit bench, “Pirates?”“What does a red flag mean?” Jimmy questioned.
“It means they are coming to kill us.” Gem answered him.~

Summary
Nuke lands the killing blow on the dragon, and the gods— well, they’re upset. The gods are panicked, and worried, and they are angry. Nuke is an angel, he’s supposed to protect, to fight for the good of the people, and even if he doesn’t know it, he just potentially doomed their precious world to destruction. It doesn’t matter if it was an accident, accidents still bring disaster. The gods don’t know if he deserves the place in the world he has anymore.
Viking is nothing to the world. He can’t really interact with it, nobody can see him, nobody can hear him, he might as well not exist. Still, he watches. He observes them, the members of dominion, as they go about their lives. He watches their conflicts with a vague interest. A part of him hopes that maybe, just maybe, if by a miracle, he were able to be something in the world… maybe his observations would serve him well. He follows them to the end, and he watches. They fight amongst themselves just as much as they fight the dragon. Part of him thinks it’s all a bit ridiculous, the way they fight each other, but also, in a way… he gets it.
And then, Something shifts.
The dragon screams out a final, dying roar.
