    Steve makes a life-altering choice, and Bucky wakes up from cryostasis to better circumstances than he could anticipate: Mind free of triggers, name cleared, fully pardoned, and a ticket back to the USA. It's far more than he deserves, but with no other plans or ties, he finds himself relocating to the Avengers Initiative Compound alongside Stevie's rogue superheroes.

    He begins establishing a new life - friends, work, maybe even love - but doesn't realize that the castles he is painstakingly building are ones in the sky.

    "I... don't understand," Bucky admits in a murmur.

    Stark's gaze drops to the silver-plated shoulder. "I fix things," he says. His fingers drum restlessly against his chest. "And this is something I broke. You shouldn't have to just live with the consequences when something can be done about it."

He knew the man’s skills set and the way he was looking at Tony was like he was some kind of snack- he probably shouldn’t feel so comfortable with an assassin looking at him like a meal to be eaten but here he was.

    The thing about Tony is….

    The thing about Tony is he’s built himself up from dirt and gravel. He’s been shoved to the ground, scrapped rocks across his face, burned in the hot sand, suffocated in the void of space, and now frozen in the wilds of Siberia, betrayed. Tony’s been through hell. But that’s the thing about Starks, they never stop getting up. Tony falls and he falls hard and then, he picks himself back up again and again because he can’t do anything else. He rises from the ashes and he learns from the burns.
    The Accords are no different.

    Steve sends him a half assed letter and tells him to buck up and come calling, come crawling back. Tony, with the patience of a man who had already stopped breaking who was broken but mending, calmly reads through the letter.
    And, after he’s done, he burns it. Along with the phone.

    After the Civil War and after the fight in Siberia Tony Stark is left in a coma with little chance of recovering. Even if he wakes up betrayal and the cold of Siberia had taken much from him already. Vision calls in someone that might help and Pepper is left with a choice she knows may bring only anger and hatred from the man she knows she's not strong enough to live without. Not knowing the threat looming closer to their realm Pepper tries to save Tony and gets surprised by those who support the genius when they see what his own friends did to him.
