Summary
The same never ending cycle of numb, pain, loss, grief, numb, pain, loss, grief…over and over every time I close my eyes. Perhaps the worst of all is the fantasy I had conjured long ago, when I thought I’d get to stay with them forever: me, shimmering so bright in the midday sun, soaring through the forests with golden eyes. Strong, fast, inhumanely beautiful, and looking more like I belonged than I ever had. Now, I find that pushing it all back and instead embracing the sheer nothing of the numbness was so much easier in the long run.
However, so small that it was barely there, I could feel the start of something else. Like a single flickering flame in the middle of the soul crushing darkness. A crack had started to form in the fragile glass I kept everything locked in. Funny enough, I thought as I made my way up the stairs, it felt a lot like anger.Picks up immediately following the depression months in New Moon.
