Summary
Samira rolled her eyes, “Okay.” She gently began tending to the wound, “our little secret.”
Jack’s eyebrows rose slightly, and a flicker of amusement and disbelief crossed his face. “Our little secret,” he echoed. “I’ve heard that before.”
Her face heated. She tried to focus on the wound, dabbing it with the Q-tip. She was so close that she could smell his cologne again. It had faded from her pillowcase. His voice brought her back to the moment: “Do you still have my card details saved?”
“Huh?”
“For the Uber? Do you still have my card on your phone?”

J. Abbot: meet me when your shift’s over
J. Abbot: i’m on the rooftopIt was unexpected, to say the least. She doesn’t get messages from her supervisors often, definitely not from Abbot (she can’t remember when they exchanged numbers in the first place. Although, he probably just gotten hers from her file). There was no room for suggestions, those texts read like blunt instructions.

Summary
Samira Mohan is someone who craves stability. That’s how she's always been.
One might argue that she chose the least fitting career path for someone with such a strong desire for security. Inside the hospital doors, chaos is the rule. But even in the havoc that plagues almost every shift at PTMC, there’s an immutability and stoutness that grounds her being. In the unpredictability of her job, she finds constancy, something to hold onto: she’s needed.
Her work is her life. There’s no Samira outside of the hospital walls. No friends, no relationships, no hobbies. Only a reliable routine, a meticulously constructed version of herself that exists to feed her growing career, nothing else.
Her life is stable. Predictable. Well-built. It’s what she always asked for. It’s what most people crave, and she’s lucky enough to have it. At least, that’s what she tells herself.
