Trusting his team was never part of the plan. All that was and still is important, is that the Justice League get along and fight cooperatively. That he is trusted to keep and conjure a plethora of backup plans whenever needed. But he never intended to return the favor.
He knows the way he protects his city and the rest of the world is wrong. Rejecting his family and the people he loves is wrong. He knows. He knows he does need the help occasionally, he couldn’t do half the things he does without the help of Alfred, or Oracle, or any of his kids. He’s not once regretted trusting them. His independence might even rely more on fear than it does trust.
He fears loss.
He fears himself.
And he fears he’ll only bring Clark down, if he ever agreed to this relationship, ever.
