Summary
He was relieved, at least, that Gen hadn’t started dating anyone. The man was still single—still available—which should’ve been ideal for Senku. Except it wasn’t, not when others noticed Gen too.
It happened often. Guys pulling Gen aside for a chat, laughing too loudly at their jokes, flirting boldly right in front of him. Every time, Senku was reminded of an unpleasant truth: someone else could easily swoop in and take Gen away.
He’d be supportive, of course. Rational. Mature. That’s what he told himself.
But the truth was uglier—he was a jealous, possessive bastard who wanted the mentalist all to himself.
Why was he acting like Taiju and Chrome when it came to confessing his feelings? It was stupid, honestly. Senku just needed a push.
“Gen knows how I am, so he should already see this coming,” Senku muttered, shaking himself free of his thoughts before glancing up at his roommate. “By any chance, do you know what the mentalist’s dressing up as?”
Chrome’s lips curved into a grin, mischief lighting up his eyes as he wiggled his brows. “Curious to know if Gen’s gonna wear something sexy?”
Senku felt his eye twitch. “It doesn’t matter to me what he wears.”

Summary
Despite what most would probably think about him, Senku was capable of appreciating good art. Not in the way some admired specific brushwork or unique color theory choices, but more so in the way he could respect how a few lines and some splashes of color could capture reality with such vibrant accuracy, while still remain so human.
As someone who had personally spent many years drawing up blueprints and sketching out model designs for his rockets, he could especially appreciate realism. Precise lines, methodically balanced perspectives, and even simple, singular details most would overlook despite their impact in truly bringing a piece to life.
But abstract art?
If Senku was being honest, he thought it was just a cheap cop-out from people with no talent trying to make it big in a world they’d never need to really work for greatness in.
There’s no technique. No real story. No passion. And certainly no talent required. Just elitism that alienates the viewer while slapping a hefty price tag on a $50 canvas just for the hell of it.

Summary
In hindsight, if Gen had taken a little time to ruminate on it, it would’ve been obvious. The strange congratulations, the knowing looks, the way everyone seemed to assume that wherever Senku went, Gen would follow.
At the time, there had always been a perfectly reasonable explanation - always a reason. Until after almost two years, Gen finally realized he'd been missing the most obvious one of all.
