Merrin narrowed her eyes and nodded, “What will it be then, officer?”
The disrespectful way in which she had stated his job title nearly sent him over the edge, “You can just call me Cal.”
He never imagined vocalizing a sentence that was in reality so banal in such a hostile tone.
Merrin rolled her eyes and raised a hand to him, “Alright, then what do you want, Cal?”
Now he was balking at her, still not understanding why she seemed to hate him so much, “What is your deal? Is this how you treat all of your customers, or is it just me who gets the honor?”
Her head tilted a bit before she eyed him fiercely, “Just you.”

As an officer of the law, Cal Kestis has always has tried to help those in need. And at this point, he has his dog, his friends, and his plants, so he felt like he really couldn't want for much.
