Summary

As she blossoms into an awkward but hard-working young storyteller, Freya is unwillingly forced to cross the sea. After the loss of her parents thanks to illness and an alleged bear-wrestling incident, Freya is adopted by an old penpal of her mother's named Sharon Van Bartonschmeer. Suspicious of how they met and struggling to find common ground with her new sister, Nazz, Freya grapples with grief, culture shock, her friend's supposed blood curse, and a pile of secrets kept locked in the attic. Despite her perplexing behaviors, Freya has to count on her new friends and a rekindled childhood sweetheart to uncover the mysteries her parents left behind. One thing is obvious: they had a plan for her.
