Newly appointed deputy governor of Wentworth, Vera Bennett, begins her new task of managing the high security isolation unit. Containing Australia’s most vicious serial killers.
One of them being the famous cannibal, Joan "The Freak" Ferguson.
Tensions rise with the mysterious death of the previous governor, media swarming like sharks, Vera's overbearing mother and a rebelling Wentworth. All while she falls into Joan's sea of endless obsession.

Summary
Joan Ferguson believed herself to be the master of profiling and seeing the truths people tried to bury. People will always reveal themselves in moments of pressure. Vera Bennett, however, continued to prove her wrong. Everything she thought she knew about her mousy deputy was just slightly off. In their evening debriefs, walks around the yard, and patrols around H block, Joan discovers that Vera has a completely different way of seeing the world. The disconnect between Joan’s expectations and Vera’s unexpected truths leaves Joan more and more unsettled and intrigued. A need for understanding slowly shifts to curiosity, and then to admiration, and from admiration to something the formidable Governor isn’t quite ready to name.

Miranda studied the tie closest to Nigel’s wrist, a patternless option in tangerine. She picked it up and beckoned Andrea over with a bend of one finger. Once close enough, she draped the tie over her assistant's left shoulder to compare it against the large apricot-toned hibiscus on the print of her blouse. It was exactly the color she was looking for, and as Miranda smoothed the fabric with her hand, she could feel Andrea’s heart thundering beneath her palm. A pink blush crept up her chest and neck, and as it made its way to her cheeks, Miranda silently admired how lovely the hue was there.
