Aizen Sousuke sat on the engawa of the Eighth Division, watching the garden awash in soft afternoon light. Sayuri laughed nearby as Shunsui amused her with clumsy fan tricks, a scene of quiet domesticity.
But within, Aizen felt unmoored.
Once guided by purpose and precision, he now drifted through routine: tending to Sayuri, speaking with Shunsui, offering counsel. It all felt hollow, like playing a part written by someone else.
"Is this what normal people do?" he murmured, gazing at the sun’s reflection in the calm garden pond. "Do they simply... exist? No plans, no goals, just moving moment to moment?"

An attempt at a SI-fic with a character not quite lucky enough to be given easy access to the main cast. Sporting a fresh case of “amnesia” and a disgustingly overpowered cursed technique to balance out his ineptitude, the casual fan who’s replaced Naoya Zen’in has enough on his plate without having to muddle through clan politics and the social repercussions of incarnating as such an utter bastard. It’s going to be really hard to save the world and not die when he’s barely involved in the original plot … and when he never even finished the damn manga.
Maybe he’s only half-lying when he says he doesn’t remember anything.
