An edgier version of Naruto,
Sasuke has worse coping skills and drags everyone along with him. His bad habits are often enabled by everyone around him, trough this drug and self destructive path he creates unusual bonds.
Naruto is often there to be just as bad and Kakashi is weary of how much responsibility he should shoulder while balancing his own instability.
At the end of the day drowning isn't so bad, not if everyone is drowning too and you enjoy the burning sensation of water filling up your lungs.

As Sasuke and Naruto's fists collide a bright light engulfed Sasuke and in the next breath he jolted up in a bed very familiar but one he had not seen in quite some time.
Itachi gazes at Sasuke with gentle fondness as his brother opens the door, stares at him, then abruptly slams it shut, the edge catching Itachi squarely on the nose. Itachi, by all means isnt the most present person in his house, being an ANBU member tends to take away ones freedom and a bunch of other things alike, but even if as of late he's been spending more time miles away from home under the dazzling stars surrounded by the thick foliage of the dense forest than under the ceiling of his own house it would be truly stupid to miss the rather drastic personality changes of the most important person in his life that seem to have happened in the matter of only a few hours, and Itachi is by no means stupid. For all the self loathing and his nonexistent confidence he would be lying to no one by calling himself anything short of generational genius, and like any good genius Itachi can pinpoint exactly when Sasuke stopped acting like his dearly beloved younger brother and adopted a personality more befitting for a man who has lived through the apocallipse and came out more broken and lost than content, Itachi is by no means a social person and even though he'll never admit it out loud he can at least admit it in the safety of his own tidy mind, but he is starting to consider the possiblity of being a social buttefly, seeing as Sasuke now seems more eager to commit treason than to socialize
