    Summary

A decade after the war, Hermione Granger is the picture of purpose: partner at the Ministry, voice of reform, engaged to a man who’s always been steady.

But when politics, legacy, and fate place Draco Malfoy back in her orbit — older, quieter, a father with shadows behind his eyes — the shape of her life begins to shift. Not violently, but irrevocably.

Old tensions turn into new conversations. Glances sharpen. Loyalties fray. And in the space between what was and what might be, something restless stirs awake.

Because sometimes, the hardest part isn’t choosing between right and wrong.
It’s recognizing the truth in almost and daring to reach past it.

Step One: Run away from your own wedding.
Step Two: Crash into Draco Malfoy in full bridal regalia.
Step Three: Bleed all over his expensive robes.
Step Four: Let the Prophet photograph him carrying you inside.
Step Five: …Fake date him until the world calms down.

    It’s foolproof. Absolutely foolproof.
Unless, of course, you accidentally fall in love with him.

    Summary

After the war guilt-ridden Hermione is trying to find herself in a world where it seems people she loves and people she hates changed places. A slow burn Dramione with abusive Ron, a bit of detective work, drama, humour, angst, and a psychological journey through it all.

“That’s tragic,” Draco said from behind her.
She turned to find him observing her mug with genuine dismay, as if witnessing the desecration of something sacred.
    “What’s tragic?”
“That coffee. It’s from the Ministry café, isn’t it?”
    “It’s fine.”
“It’s the colour of dishwater. It may have at most delusions of adequacy.” He set his own mug down. “What do you actually like? In coffee, I mean.”
The question was personal in ways that she usually avoided. “I don’t know. Something that doesn’t taste like it was brewed with the same enthusiasm as slop, I suppose.”
“Helpful. Do you prefer light or dark roast?”
“Why do you want to know?”
“Because watching you drink that offends my sensibilities. And because tomorrow I’m going to bring you proper coffee.”
    “You shouldn’t-”
“I know. But I’m going to anyway.” He settled at his desk. “Consider it a public service. Better coffee improves workplace productivity.”

    Summary

Some part of him could picture it then, could imagine telling her everything - speaking til dawn on his whole history. Spending the next day in this same spot, diving into what he knew of hers. Asking how it felt to gore that bard. Instead, he mirrored her smile - his own wicked grin for seducing and scheming.

“I’ve wanted to taste you since I first felt that pretty neck under my blade.”

And as her head fell back in a laugh, the white expanse of her neck on full display at his easy, overused line, he watched the golden girl fall into the palm of his hand.

    ---
    COMPLETED.

Astarion had known the woman's face immediately - Halia Dhune, the golden daughter of Baldur's Gate. The princess of the upper city. How many times had Cazador sent him after her - wanting to claim the socialite as a trophy to add to his awful collection? At least now he wouldn't have to go back to his master empty handed, should the tadpole situation not work out in his favor.

(or: what if the Dark Urge was a noble woman, perfect and popular, and her father's favorite fox in the henhouse. and of course, what if our dear vampire knew of her before the crash?)
