Summary
He puts his skewer down and grabs at it with both hands, tentatively bringing it closer to his mouth. He looks at Alex and again at the s’more and he finally bites into it, tearing it in half.
“Mmm, goodness gracious,” he moans as he finally tastes the treat. “It’s so sweet”.
“Well, it is an American thing,” Alex says, as he lets out a laugh.
There’s a glint of joy in Henry's eyes as he finishes the second half.
A splotch of melted chocolate rests at the corner of his mouth, threatening to run downwards and Alex tries to warn him but at the same time, like he’s guided by a force he cannot fight against, he extends his hand and gathers the chocolate with his thumb.
“You had some—” and shows Henry his thumb full of chocolate. “Yeah, that’s better,” Alex adds, as he sticks his thumb in his mouth and sucks it clean.
Or: Stuck in a cabin due to a storm, Alex and Henry only have marshmallows, crackers and chocolate as supplies. They make the best of it, while also tending to some old wounds.
