“Are you staying over tonight?”
It takes Wonwoo a moment to realize Mingyu’s talking to him. He looks up again, and finds Mingyu already looking back. “I don’t think so,” he answers. “Why?”
Mingyu shrugs, but Wonwoo thinks he can see the tips of his ears turn red. “I don’t want a repeat of, uh, last time.”
Seokmin laughs. “Oh, you mean when you hooked up with someone right in front of him?” he says gleefully. “And you didn’t realize he was there until-”
“I was there, you know,” Mingyu tells him. “You don’t have to remind me.”(or: mingyu makes the worst first impression in the history of first impressions. wonwoo just wants to maintain plausible deniability.)

After their latest variety show, Yeonjun felt humiliated. Not because he went the farthest in the infamous pepero game—far from it—but because he backed out like a flustered schoolboy the second things got too close. He told himself it was just for fun. No big deal. No feelings. No meaning. So why did it feel like he’d failed some kind of invisible test?
Choi Yeonjun, a prude? Not quite. He was just… momentarily spiraling over a five-second variety show bit like it was a life-altering moment. The realization that maybe intimacy wasn’t some sacred, untouchable thing left him rattled. What if casual kisses and impulsive touches weren’t dirty little secrets, but just another way people connect? Honestly. Comfortably. Without fear.
So who better to ask for help than Soobin who made it all look easy, played along without pushing too far, laughed without flinching, and knew how to slow things down. He was warm. Safe. A sure thing.
The next pepero stick wouldn’t stand a chance. But neither would Yeonjun’s heart.
Or, after getting absolutely owned by Huening Kai during a game, Yeonjun cannot stop thinking about it. Desperate to shake the embarrassment, he turns to someone who’s always been safe: Soobin.

It only makes Soobin hum, looking up to think. “How long are you thinking?”
It was Yeonjun’s turn to hum in thought, head turning over to the sweater, tracing his thumb along the patterns that lay on the rim of the collar. “In eight years.”
“Eight?” Soobin chuckles, the other flipping his head back to meet his gaze. “Why eight?”
“Because it’s when we get old.”
Eight years later, Soobin looks at him with what was supposed to be hatred, beneath the moonlight in the dead of the night. They stand like they did a year ago, in lieu of broken promises.
