How would a single conversation between the infamous Captain America, and the young impressionable Spider-man, lead to such different circumstances?
OR:
During the events of the battle in Germany, Steve and Peter have an ever so slightly longer conversation, long enough that Peter ends up suspicious of what he's actually fighting for. Peter makes a decision, one that would change his fate, along with the rest of the avengers' as well. Who would've guessed that one extra sentence could change so much.
Safe to say everything goes wrong!

Ryohei could only nod silently, eyes still caught on Chota’s dead body in front of him, the red pooling across the floor.
“—No, Arisu. Look at me, at Chota. Shibuki. These games…they made monsters out of us, animals…But you…I’ve seen you the past few games. I saw something in your eyes…the same thing I could feel watching me whenever we walk into a game. Something twisted. Hungry. It’s why I turned on you so quickly, Arisu. I’m sorry.”
“Karube—”
“—but that something could be the key to finally taking those psychopaths down.”
Ryohei stared at his friend, at his bitter smile.
“Beat them at their own game, Arisu. Show them who the real monster is.”
Or Arisu Ryohei, much like his namesake, found himself lost in a world so much more different and darker than his own. Unlike little Alice, however, he doesn’t think he’ll be escaping this hell.
