“Michelangelo?”
Mikey’s head snaps up like a rubber band, so fast it hurts his neck. His father is standing in the doorway, whole and unharmed and strong. He tilts his head, taking in the probably dumb way Mikey is just standing there staring up at him.
He’s alive. In this moment, in this memory, he’s alive. But just a minute ago he was dying, he was choking on blood and then he was gone, and no matter how many times Mikey cried for him he didn’t come back.
Mikey’s chest feels like it’s closing around all his squishy insides like a fist. It’s really hard to breathe in a way that isn’t just desperate gulping gasps for air, so he holds his breath. It’s a good and useful thing that aquatic turtles can do it for a long time.
“I thought you and your brothers had left already,” the rat says mildly.
“We did? I mean, uh, yeah, we did,” Mikey says. He watches Splinter’s expression tighten in tiny inscrutable ways, and knows he didn’t do a very good job of sounding normal. So he clears his throat and finds a lopsided smile and tries again. “I just had to come back for something.”

Summary
Tommy Smithson is a 24 year old man, born and lives in Orange, California. He is the son of immigrants from the Netherlands. His father died when working as an innocent security guard, Scott’s black ops team during Messiah Complex killed him for managing the security cameras. His mother was killed as collateral damage during Apocalypse War when she was blown up by Apocalypse. Tommy Smithson is an orphan who lives in a small condo which he inherited from his parents when they passed away. Tommy works as a pharmacy technician and works part-time as a migrant farmer to pay the bills. Tommy’s body becomes the host of true-form Darkseid since he needed to flee the events of Final Crisis where he needed to flee being permanently destroyed; they now have a symbiotic relationship where true-form Darkseid uses his body for a physical form, the only he can have, and Tommy uses true-form Darkseid for his powers. This arrangement is permanent and cannot be undone no matter if Tommy or Darkseid wants to, they must work together and compromise.

Kai takes one long, last look for the foreseeable future at his ruined house and shop before following Wu. Once Kai caught up to Wu, he asked his questions, “Well then, you mentioned you knew my father twice by now, once when you compared me and my sister to our parents, and once just a moment ago, so when and how have the two of you met? Plus, what’s that ‘great fire’ stuff?”
“Yes, I knew your father. He fought in the Serpentine Wars. So did I. Kai, your father was a master of fire. Like him, you carry that same power, the power to command fire at your will. And if you have any hope of saving your sister, you need to learn how to use it.” Wu explained.
Or, someone gets Isekai-ed as Kai at the very start of Ninjago, this leads to many things 'Kai' could've never expected
