It didn’t work.
It had been a weak shot to begin with, canal water to undo a Moon Ring’s defensive blast? It shouldn’t have been a surprise when it didn’t work, but hope can blind you. Now they’re stuck. Stuck with an unconscious, and injured Mermaid, and with no real ideas on what to do. They’re untrained, their options are limited and tensions are high.
"You must have complete control of the ring, or there's no telling what damage it could cause."
Moon Rings are dangerous. Too bad it took this much to make that really sink in.

Young doesn’t mean incompetent, Lena thought to herself, thinking of the conversation Kara had with the student earlier. She literally flies all the time… “Yeah,” Lena confessed. “Not a fan of flying. I’ve never been in one of these small planes.”
Kara picked up the keys that Winn had placed on the counter, along with her bag and the second headset.
“I’ll take good care of you,” Kara said.

Summary
When her curiosity has been fed, her eyes land on the woman across from her—long dark hair curtaining porcelain skin on sharp features: brows, jaw, eyes. Kara is not so immune when her eyes flicker down to the curves and bows of the woman's red lips pouting slightly in thought.
The woman, who up to this point had been one of the ones scrolling through her phone, looks up suddenly and meets her gaze. Kara feels suspended in the air when keen eyes bore into her and she seriously wonders if anybody’s ever looked at her before until now.

So she knew that when she watched from her place beside Lena as her best friend got married to Jack, it almost felt like being embraced by loss all over again. She tucked her head down, covered her face daintily as if her happiness for the now wedded couple was so overwhelming she had to swallow it back in.
