Bruce expected a swift reply, perhaps an annoyed drawl, but he receives nothing. Bruce feels his heart skip several beats.
“Robin?” Bruce repeats with strain.
Damian’s voice would have been the only thing to bring life to the silent channel. It’s a pressurized silence that bursts underneath the tension. Bruce listens to his children erupt with concerned conversation. Bruce doesn’t have the time to listen to them individually. Damian isn’t responsive. Damian is hurt.
