Steve doesn’t feel right. He doesn’t know what it is, but it’s not the flu or a cold. If it’s something serious, he’s gonna pretend it’s not. If it’s something Upside Down related, he’s probably gonna die, so it is what it is.
He just feels so warm on the inside, almost feverish, but his skin is fine. A little dry, maybe. Kinda cracked like it’s the middle of winter and he ran out of lotion. And he swears that he’s grown an inch. Maybe more. His pants are hitting above his ankle where they used to be just below.
Maybe it’s just heartburn. He did eat that taco with extra hot sauce last night, and bodies are weird or whatever.

Eddie’s gotta be so fucking real right now: he was 100% not expecting to wake back to the world again after the bats made a meal out of him.
Like...ever.
And he didn’t really buy into the afterlife, and even if he did, he’d be less surprised by the fire and brimstone shit than whatever he’s feeling right now.
Because right now is warm, but not hellfire warm. He can feel the sheets he’s wrapped up in are a thread count that’s way above the Munson tax bracket, and the warmth he’s feeling so fully is starting to give itself away as being pressed to his back, wrapped around his chest—
Arms. He's being held. And when he turns—
Holy fucking shit.
The arms belong to Steve goddamn Harrington.
And Steve—unbearably gorgeous fucking Steve, who somehow looks like years have passed but that they did him every fucking favor—studies him for a second where Eddie thinks his soul’s being read in its entirety, the intensity of that gaze weighty in his veins, pumping through his heart with an intimate seeing of him and it should feel fucking terrifying, and to a point it does.
But mostly, it feels…perfect.

“You left.”
It isn’t what Steve meant to say when he saw Eddie Munson slouched at the bar, but it’s what comes out. Not as accusatory as he’d have said it three, four, five years ago. Just as bitter.
Eddie doesn’t startle, but his shoulders tense up and his fingers tighten around his half-empty drink, rings clinking loudly against glass. He turns, slow and cautious, and doesn’t relax when he sees Steve. Just watches him, silent and guarded, so Steve watches him back.
He looks…fuck, he looks good. Tired, wary, but really fucking good.
Steve wants to bring Eddie home, lay him in bed and take him apart.
Eddie’s lips quirk at the corners. “I came back.”
He also kind of wants to hit him.
Anger simmers low in his belly and his jaw clenches so tightly it aches.
“Don’t pull that shit with me, Munson. You packed up and you left and you didn’t fucking tell anyone.”

Or, after the events of s4, Eddie runs from Hawkins, tours the world with his band, drinks too much and falls apart at the seams.

Munson’s tongue darts out to wet his lips, eyes drifting heatedly along the sprawl of Steve’s body. “Would have to find someone who would want to fuck me first,” he murmurs, and then full body winces when his words catch up to him and drops his head back against the carpet to stare at the ceiling, joint tucked between his lips, hands folded over his stomach.
It takes longer to process in Steve’s fog-addled brain, but when it finally does, he gapes at Munson. “You’re a virgin?”
“Don’t have to fucking broadcast it, Harrington.”
“I could take care of that for you,” Steve blurts, surprising himself maybe even more than he surprises Eddie. Eddie, who chokes on his own spit and jerks upright, curling into himself as he coughs out a lungful of smoke.

Eddie likes the snow. He doesn’t love the cold, but the big white drifts that pile up on lawns and boulevards- they’re nice. Means they’ll have a proper white Christmas.
