Summary
Going into their last year of study at the University of Manchester, Sirius and Remus have been dancing around a blooming crush for the last few years. Everything comes to a head right before their last fall term together and both boys think they’ve made a terrible mistake.
“What do you think it means?” Sirius’s voice is quiet, just above the music. Remus turns, coming face to face with him. His hazel eyes are glassy, gaze soft as it flits over Sirius’s face.
“What do you mean?” When Remus asks, Sirius’s brows furrow, the slice through his right eyebrow almost disappearing.
“Fate up against your will,” Sirius repeats almost reverently.
Remus bites his lip, the movement drawing Sirius’s eyes towards it.
“It’s inevitable.” His voice is soft, bordering husky.

Honestly, if someone told him this morning that he’s going to be attacked by a vampire on his way back from the library, rejected half a second later because apparently he’s not delicious enough for the guy’s liking, and then have said vampire concerned about his health – well, he’d tell them to check out the local GP when they next have the chance.

Summary
Sirius watches Remus, the way his eyelashes flutter and his nose twitches, his clever mouth, the bead of sweat falling down from his forehead. Sirius swallows. “Remus?” he murmurs.
“Hmm?” Remus hums, turning his head to look over at him.
“I think I’m going mad.”
Remus’ mouth catches, all janky and awkward like. “Well yes,” he says. “I could have told you that.”

Summary
He was smiling to himself, eyes still closed, and Sirius hadn't known at the time - but by Fifth Year would realise well enough - where this Remus had come from. He was always a little wild, somehow both impossibly distant and blindingly, achingly present, all at once, and in the beginning Sirius had ascribed it entirely to Remus's own innate nature or some sort of slight chemical neurodivergence that made him just a little bit more than the rest of them; a little bit magic, a little bit mad. Freer than the others. A tempest in an otherwise still ocean.
The boys at boarding school, told in libraries and cloisters and too much alcohol and the way Remus thinks none of it matters, anyway.
