Gabriel knows he looks older than he is – it’s something he’s really quite proud of. God knows he worked hard enough to achieve it. It may seem to many like he’s just rolled out of bed and into whatever clothing was piled up on the floor, but every detail, every accessory and smudge of eyeliner, is carefully premeditated.
“How old are you?” Nathan asks while they're floating their way, slowly, to France.
Gabriel steals his spliff back from Annalise, because he is not high enough for this, and says, “oh, what is time, really, anyway.”

Suddenly, Annalise drops down onto her knees beside him, and Gabriel realises she’s talking, desperately, trying to get him to just breathe. “Mercury.” He says again, like it’s the only thing he knows how to say, and she just nods, furiously.
“I know, I know, Gabriel, I know.”
It’s this that lets his arms unlock, and if it weren’t for Nathan’s hands coming to grip under Gabriel’s arms, he would have fallen straight onto the bathroom floor.

Annalise is awkwardly hovering in the doorway to their bathroom. Gabriel, who is smoking a cigarette out the window, weighs the pros and cons of ignoring her. Without Nathan and the ever present dread of people wanting to kill them, their relationship feels strained and awkward. Gabriel has been forced to confront these past few days that despite kissing one and having his life saved by the other, he still does not know these teens very well.
