"No. But for now, we're okay. That's more than enough."The sky is clear and stars are bright. The fence feels hard against her back, but Max cares little. She snuggles closer to Lucas, resting her head on his shoulder. His arm circles around her, and the world settles into place like the final piece of a puzzle.
Two weeks ago, she died in his arms. Twelve days ago, he sat beside a hospital bed, his eyes haunted by something darker than exhaustion; she found herself stranded on a vast, empty beach, the wet sand clinging to her clothes.
Some wounds run deeper than physical scars, and the path to healing isn't always what we expect.
My attempt to continue the story in season 4 and give it a happy ending.
