“So, did you invite Tommas on patrols with you, the times I sent him to replace me?”
Davos froze mid bite. Aeron was watching him, and the look on his face was composed, resigned—as if he were ready for Davos to confess all the sins that had been weighing heavy between them. Davos felt much in the presence of a very venomous snake, and tried desperately to avoid treading too close to it.
“Only a fool would patrol with the enemy,” said Davos.
A young Bracken squire goes missing in the Whispering Woods, and Davos Blackwood is accused of the crime. To clear the Blackwood name, he must go on a quest with ser Aeron Bracken to find the boy, deep in the darkest part of the forest.
Unbeknownst to their families, this is not their first patrol together. Unbeknownst to them, something lurks between the shadows of the trees, and if they are not careful, it may be their last.

He regrets it as soon as he types out the message, his whole body physically tensing as he presses send, but in this moment, Aeron Bracken is a desperate boy, any previous feelings be damned.
So now he sits here, sits on the curb outside of his house, ignoring the screaming emanating from it, tries to ignore the harsh words coming from his uncle, has been trying to ignore the tears slowly drying on his cheeks as the wind blows colder around him. He curls closer in on himself, staring at the read receipt that’s just popped up a moment ago in response to “come get me.”

And yet…whenever Davos Blackwood isn’t sneering at him, his heart aches with bitter disappointment. But that’s normal, isn’t it? And no dragons, however distant, will change that.

Davos’s gaze was heated. Oddly clear for those oft-limpid eyes. He was doing that thing he always did with his tongue in between his sentences, worrying it there. Aeron watched it, hypnotized. The flare of heat in his belly that had never fully gone away ever since he’d first run into the Blackwood bastard was growing rather than settling.
"You are very stupid," Davos said. He swallowed slightly. Aeron’s eyes were now fixated on the erection which he now had a very clear view of, from his new position on the floor. "You are the stupidest Bracken of them all, and that is not an easy contest to win."
"I don’t care," Aeron said, lips curling.
"Fuck," Davos mumbled, and put a hand to his forehead.

“Are you finished?” he asks and Aeron is at his breaking point.
Aeron screams at him, savage and deep from the chest. Instead of hitting him again though, he finally draws his dagger and goes running, shoulder crashing into the other boy, knocking them both to the floor.
“You bastard, I'll fucking kill you,” Aeron cries, full of anguish,sitting on Davos’ chest, his dagger is clutched in both hands high above their heads, ready to drive it down into the Blackwood's throat.
“You're so beautiful,” Davos says, reverently, still unmoving, ready to let Aeron end him.
Or
Davos and Aeron run away from a Tournament together.

Summary
There’s something in Blackwood’s gaze beyond the smugness. To consider it teasing implies a camaraderie that doesn’t exist between them. Any fondness they’ve ever held for each other, any kind regard, was burnt out years ago. Davos made sure of that. Aeron searches his eyes, staring deeper than he’s ever had leave to.
“You jest,” he says, incredulous. “About this?”
“I wonder what your uncle would say?”
It’s a marvel Aeron doesn’t reach across the table to strangle him. He ought to.
