Caspian drew a breath and leaned back, his hand falling away.
But he stayed all night. Changed cloths. Held his wrist to feel the fever’s pulse. He never once sat properly—only knelt beside the cot, watching.
And when Peter whispered again—
“Don’t leave…”—barely conscious, barely himself, Caspian leaned closer, brushing sweat from his brow, and whispered back:
“I’m here. You’re not alone.”
