Summary
Ilya, the second son of Pakhan Rozanov, is sent to Toronto to make a deal with assassin Shane Hollander.
The deal has been brokered by Shane's mother, and is an opportunity for Shane's family to renew ties with the Yakuza family Yuna once fled from.
"You're a piece of work," Hollander says, face inches from Ilya's. He has freckles, Ilya notes, absently.
Hollander does not move forward or away. His eyes flick down to Ilya's mouth and back up. His eyes are low-lidded. He smells good: clean sweat and aquatic aftershave.
"At least I know you're up to the task now," Ilya says. As if the fight and the flirting that led to it were ways to test out the merchandise. His heart is hammering.
Hollander says, "Yeah, that's what this was all about." Sarcasm suits him.
"Terrible thing to do to a good watch." Ilya closes his eyes and stretches his neck, so the wire bites against his Adam's apple when he swallows. "Now that I have seen this crime and people who mix their vodka with Coca-Cola, I am ready to die. Press down."

Summary

He couldn’t bring himself to finish the sentence. Still, Ilya knew what he meant. Why would you lead me to the back of the bar and take me apart with your mouth? Why would you button my shirt afterward? Why would you ask to see me again?
(Shane Hollander is the son of the Canadian prime minister. He is also the captain of his college hockey team. This obscene balancing act is seemingly going just fine, until he accidentally hooks up with his new bodyguard one night at the bar.)
