Izuku stared down at the candle in his hand. The wax was melting around the base and warming his hand through the paper cover. It might not be burning, but he wished it was. He didn’t want to be here. Actually, that was a lie, he wanted to be here but he wished this was a regular monthly meeting instead of a vigil. This was the third vigil he’d been to this year, and it was only February.
Last night, a six year old girl named Asami Sato took her life by swallowing a bottle of her mother’s pills. She did this only two hours after her own mother told her she should never have been born.
Asami Sato was born quirkless. She was six, and had not developed a quirk at four like the majority of the population.
Now, Asami Sato was an Orchid. A beautiful, fleeting memory.

Summary
Izuku had a soulmark before. Explosions across his collarbone, bright and loud, a neon sign that screamed for all the world to hear exactly who his soulmate was.
It disappears in his final year of middle school. Izuku asks the universe to take it away after his last straw is taken in Kacchan’s hands and snapped in half, and he isn’t granted a second one. Not that he minds all that much- no, no one is better than Kacchan was, and Izuku thinks he can settle for finding love one day without the help of some fancy mark on his skin.
Hitoshi never had a soulmark before. He grew up without one and got bullied for it. After all, he was the villain kid, so despicable with such an evil quirk that even the universe agreed he wasn’t worthy of love. He grew to accept it slowly, eventually coming to terms with the fact that he’d have to find someone on his own even if the odds were stacked against him.
Both of them are surprised one night to see a splotch of color on their hands, a thin matching thread that begins to grow as the days go by.
Thankfully, neither are disappointed.

Or perhaps it already had, and Izuku simply wasn't ready to admit it.
Or, in the end, maybe Izuku did possess a quirk with an unusual activation. Izuku is a ghost who dedicates himself to fixing others' lives but not his own.

Ino just wants her first C-Rank mission to go well, since all of the Rookie Nine have had some sort of issue with theirs, and she is determined to make it work! It's a simple mission of eradicating bandits on a bridge, no big deal, but then a teenager drops from the sky.
Hitoshi is having a blast in his second year at UA, on patrol with his teacher, mentor, and adoptive father, Eraserhead, when they encounter a boy being abused by his parents. In the high stress situation, the boy accidentally activates his quirk and sends Hitoshi into a land that is incredibly different and also sort of the same? Well, he might as well hang out with his new friends while they figure out what went wrong and how to send him back.
Second year in UA, pre-chunin exams in the Naruto universe. Trying to make it "no prior Naruto knowledge needed"
