Stein can see his lab from here, under the bright shine of a waxing gibbous moon, its grin seeming to tease him.
"What do you know that I don't?" he asks sardonically.
It doesn't answer - of course.
He opens his door, and sighs heavily - yellow lamplight's spilling around the corner from the living room. He's going to burn out the bulb at this rate, and he can't remember where he keeps the spares, if he has any.
He turns the corner, and stops dead.
