Summary
Due to the start of Riverdale High’s complex renovations, the school is shut down for one year and all Riverdale High students are forced to attend Southside High.
In an effort to integrate at her new school, Betty goes to a meeting for the Red and Black and meets the Serpent Prince, Jughead Jones.
AU: Jughead Jones is a Southside High student and, therefore, doesn’t know any of the regular Riverdale High students.

Betty Cooper just can't seem to fit in at Southside High. It's run down, everyone seems to hate her just on principle, and the people who are running the Red and Black don't want her help at all. To make matters worse her recently divorced mother is trying to find her 'soulmate' by going to conventions and touching as many hands as possible.
Betty doesn't even believe in soulmates anyway. Just because some people's nervous systems happen to sync up when they touch for the first time doesn't mean they're soulmates destined to fall in love. Right?

In short, soulmarks have never appeared before entering puberty…
There are many, many more cases in which two people have insisted they are soulmates only to not mark with one another. All in all, only about 3% of couplings are correct in predicting they are soulmates before marks form.”

Summary

While dealing with the prognosis, Jughead couldn’t ignore the ray of hope keeping him grounded through the sadness in the form of Pediatric Oncology nurse Betty Cooper. Can he learn to love while living in a nightmare? Can she learn to put aside her insecurities and conflicting feelings to fall for the father figure of her patient?
Warning: lots of angst and descriptive smut ahead.
