That certainly wasn’t news he expected to wake up to. He hadn’t seen the woman in years, but that didn’t ease the sting in his chest any. Growing up, Joyce felt like more of a mother than his own had at times.

Will’s nose scrunched up with a smile, and it’s the best thing Mike has ever seen.
It was strange, this new feeling in his chest. It caused his heart to beat faster, and he had the insane urge to lean forward— to grab Will’s makeup-covered face and press their lips together. He wonders if the lip gloss would rub off on him.

Will sighs, resigned. He drops his hands. “Okay. Honestly?” He hesitates, then shrugs. “He was a bad kisser. And I just… couldn’t get excited around him. At all.”
The reaction is immediate and merciless. Dustin makes a dramatic gagging noise. El gasps like she’s been handed gossip gold. Lucas high-fives Max, shaking her hand in his.
Mike doesn’t say anything. He just watches Will, watches the way he shrugs it off, the way he laughs a little too loud, the way his ears go red.
