Summary
Now that he’s risen through the ranks to Wingleader, Xaden Riorson only has one goal for his last year at Basgiath: Get all the marked kids bonded and graduated so they can fight the real enemy lurking at the borders.
The only problem is that Violet Sorrengail, the general’s youngest daughter, has also joined the Rider’s Quadrant this year. He doesn’t know why she’s here, what her plans are, or if he can trust her. All he knows is that he can’t seem to stay away.This is Fourth Wing retold from Xaden’s POV. It follows the dialogue and timeline from Fourth Wing with my own interpretations and theories of Xaden’s actions and feelings. As it was written before the release of Iron Flame, all ideas and theories are just that – theories. Many elements are my own head cannons/speculation and are unconfirmed by Rebecca Yarros.
I would recommend reading Fourth Wing first as there are major plot spoilers throughout!

This follows the dialogue and events of Rebecca Yarros’s Fourth Wing, retold from Xaden’s perspective. This was written prior to the release of Iron Flame, so all theories and speculation are my own and unconfirmed. It's my best guess at exploring how Xaden might have felt throughout the story and features new scenes with Liam, Garrick, Imogen, Sgaeyl and Tairn. Major plot spoilers from the very first chapter.

ALL THE SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE BOOK.
Violet Sorrengail's world is shattered when she discovers everything she was taught to believe is a lie. Between discovering her brother still alive and the man she fell in love with to be the head of a much larger rebellion, a revolution, she decides to be on the right side of history, the side that defends the weak and fights against the Venin.
Now Violet needs to learn how to navigate Basgiath War College as a second year with stakes higher than ever, protect the ones she loves, and sort out what to do with Xaden Riorson, the man who broke her heart but still very much owns it.
Like everyone else who’s read this book, I’m still suffering from the hangover that came from finishing it. Attempting to work out the hangover by taking a stab at what happens next.
Picks up right after Brennan is revealed to be alive. This fic is intended to run until Iron Flame comes out in November. I own nothing. I’m just here to kill time till November :)

Summary
After my second read of Fourth Wing, I couldn't help but think about what the events might look like from Xaden's POV. Here's what I'm imagining :)
Edit: this has kind of become my companion to the novel, where you can read a chapter in the book and then the corresponding chapter here to get Xaden's perspective without any major spoilers. It's been so fun to imagine the relationship between Xaden and Sgaeyl while still trying to maintain some suspense and tension for the reader :)
This is the first thing I've written in probably 15 years and I kind of can't believe I finished it, even though that was always the goal. Thank you so much to everyone who has read any amount of it -- without the kudos and comments I'm not sure it ever would have made it past the first couple of chapters. Thank you for making this exploration of Violet and Xaden's universe that much more enjoyable!
