Vegas would have rolled his eyes. Vegas would have probably spun around and choked Pete.
Instead, his shoulders slumped as he whispered, "I'm Macau."
"Macau?" Pete repeated to himself. When Vegas–Macau–turned shyly toward him, Pete quickly asked, "Would you like to be my friend, Khun Macau?"
Macau sucked in a breath, his eyes going wide. His voice grew painfully delicate as he asked, "Do you mean it?"
Pete nodded.
