Wei Ying stares intensely at the red bracelet lying on his bed, alongside the countless other jewels that fill his quarters. There are numerous jars of wine stacked in the corner, some that even Wei Ying fails to recognize. Bundles of silks in every single color he could imagine draped on the side table.
Despite the extravagance of all the gifts, Wei Ying’s sole attention remains fixated on the red bracelet. With trembling hands, he gently picks up the intricately woven bracelet, running his fingers on the pearl nestled between the threads, engraved with the Lan insignia. And below it, his name. Wei Ying.
“Who….” Wei Ying manages his voice to no quiver, “Who sent them?” He asks even when within his heart, he knows who it is. It can only be him.
Mo Xuanyu bows, a knowing smile on his face, “The personal servants of the emperor delivered them this morning.”
