The water pooling beneath you does little to distract you from the ceaseless chattering. Any cold sensation a real person would have felt is dulled by artificial, encoded responses responsible for chemical reactions underneath the wires being overwritten a few too many times by God. A real person would feel frostbite gnawing at their feet. You don’t feel anything.
Because you are not a real person.You are a program. A program meant to merge the Wired and the Not Yet Wired. Programs don’t feel cold. Programs do exactly as they are told.

Summary
Something’s different this time. That’s not right.
There’s something crawling up her spine and she shivers against the stabbing frost of fear. Her hair stands on its ends as clouds of smoke swirl around her, she’s trapped in the eye of a tornado. She sinks to her knees without her knowledge.
Large swaths of it begin to coalesce in front of her, stacking itself particle by particle into a replica of her shadow, before opening eleven ember stained eyes to stare at her.

Summary
She had gotten so hyper-focused on working on the webcomic she forgot what day it was- a bad habit picked up while living alone- so she resorted to digging through old DVDs at the last minute. Nothing had particularly caught her eye, until she stumbled upon her copy of War of the Warlocks. A shaking hand timidly traces over the aged cover art, before Marcy notices a bent emerald corner merge with the intense sunset, no doubt due to the passage of the years. They’re so intertwined that you can’t tell where one stops and the other begins. She feels metal scraping against her teeth and jerks away unconsciously.
Or: Marcy has a no good very bad evening/night that ends on a slightly better note.

of course she has. she's spent most of her life invested in the love lives of others, to the point of borderline obsession. it hadn't felt like something she ever would want for herself though, and for awhile she thought maybe... maybe there was something wrong with her, for wanting to read stories where the guy gets the girl and cry at the happy ending but not want such a fate for herself.
and then she realized she likes girls, and everything had just clicked into place.
