Summary
(There’s a deep ache somewhere buried far behind his eyes, like he’s been banging his head against a wall for hours. Thoughts are hazy and move too quickly to follow coherently, though he does try to piece together what had happened between his palms pressed against the glass window of a public bus and …wherever he’s found himself now. This turns out to be a mistake- everything is a blur and his heart rate (that still hasn’t quite yet had time to settle since Jackal II) skyrockets once more upon being faced with two unknowns, past and present.
Something’s.. not quite right.)

And curse his werewolf hearing, because he knew when Stiles' heart stopped beating, when his lungs stopped frantically gasping for air.
His sobs were lost in the echoing corridors of the school, and his howl was lost in the stillness of the night.

Summary
The funeral is quiet. It's so, so quiet, and Stiles has never handled quiet well. He doesn't handle it well now, his knee is bouncing up and down as he waits, because he knows it'll be his turn to speak soon. The room is large and the pastor's voice echoes off the walls and stained glass windows. Stiles can remember coming here with his mother sometimes, on holidays. But his father had never-
The lump that he's been constantly fighting against for days has reappeared and he struggles to swallow it down. Don't think about that, he scolds himself. Not allowed to think about him.
