The problem with the direction in which Wei Ying’s explanation is heading, is not that he’s having trouble saying it. It’s not that he’s talking about dating, or going on multiple dates with the same person, no. Lan Wangji knows his best friend is an unrelenting flirt, and loves companionship. Lan Wangji knows his best friend also loves physical intimacy and sex. These things have not been secrets for several years now. The problem with the direction in which Wei Ying’s explanation is heading, is that Lan Wangji is irrevocably in love with him, and has been for about 14 years. The problem is that Lan Wangji is in love with him, and Wei Wuxian, who’s never actually had a partner despite all of his dating, is about to tell Lan Wangji that Li Bowen, rich and illustrious philanthropist Li Bowen, has asked to formally court him.
