She opened her eyes to find herself floating down a river. Well, perhaps 'floating down' wouldn't be the right description. She was currently drowning. She had never learned how to swim and suddenly finding herself drowning in a river was the ideal situation for anyone to die. She should try to think about more positive things in such a situation. [Her husband had once said she should try to be more positive.] But could you really blame her for such thoughts when she could barely keep herself afloat? No. You couldn't.
'That kid has nice hair.'
She patted the black haired kid's head who looked very annoyed by the action, likely because he thought they were the same age. How could he know that she was very older than she looked?
She didn't think that the black haired kid was the one crazy troublemaker who she had binge read a novel for.

She should have realized whose son he was and why she was always so curious about his appearance. She also felt gratitude in her heart to her mother for having remembered the man enough to pass the memory down to her. This was enough of a warning for her to stay away from the boy known as Ron Kamonohashi.

The last thing she saw, before waves of memories which did not belong to her forced their way in her head, was black curled hair. His hair looked as soft as the silk she had seen being draped on her mother's body when she would get ready to go to a fancy event.
She remembered reaching her hand out to feel it before she had lost consciousness. That might have been the only time she would ever get to touch such luxurious and silky hair.
When she woke up again, she was able to understand things she had never understood before, and was a practitioner of a fallen sect's martial arts. But, she was also a physician from the future.
