Summary
Two years is a long time to be pronounced killed in action- long enough for it to start feeling permanent.The task force didn't mourn loudly. They tucked the memory of a little girl radiating sunshine into the farthest corners of their mind, where it didn't hurt so much. Transcending wasn't something you survived. That's what they told themselves. What they had to believe. The pack accepted the loss, even as it splintered something deep in all of them.
Until Laswell walked in-with a siren at her side. Their siren.
She looked the same at first glance. Older, taller than two years ago. But unmistakably her. The same odd mannerisms and lilting, laughing speech. Familiar enough to make their chest ache.
But the light in her eyes was gone. Snuffed out.
In its place was something sharper. Like whatever she'd become had teeth now. They all could see the change. Katya was back, but she wasn't the impish child they had known.
She had crawled her way out of hell. And she hadn't come back alone.
Even with the new presence beneath her skin...she was still theirs.
...Right?

Summary
Despite the warnings from Loid and Lotus, our small Tenno makes their own way to 1999. After the Drifter took on the task of reversing the big bang of 1999 things got lonely, especially since Drifter took Excalibur. The only push the kid needed was the absence of their Nidus. Nidus they took a long time caring for and nurturing their infection to a manageable level is now with the Drifter without warning.
It's only a matter of time that a traumatized child with abandonment issues takes back their comfort warframes, maybe even meet the Hex. How unfortunate our Operator didn't get that translator Drifter made.
