Summary
Vi and Caitlyn strolled side by side through Zaun’s neon-lit streets. Cait had donned a pair of sleek, dark sunglasses to shield her eye—the one she sacrificed. She wore them even at night, a practical necessity but one that added an air of mystery to her already composed demeanor. It didn't matter to her that the side was inscribed with the words Seraphine from a concert she'd attended years ago. It was subtle and Vi only teased her cupcake every other time.
Vi glanced at Cait as they passed a group of Zaunites loitering by a vendor selling rare Ionian spices. “You know,” Vi said, smirking, “you look like you’re about to walk into a Zaun nightclub and start taking names.”
“Practicality doesn’t preclude style, Vi,” Cait quipped, her tone light.
An older woman sitting by a makeshift cart noticed them passing by and squinted at Caitlyn’s sunglasses, then at Vi’s patched jacket. “Well, well,” she said loudly, “if it isn’t Piltover’s finest!" She interjected loud enough to stop the fast walking lesbians.

The kitchen buzzed with the hum of chefs sharpening knives, the hiss of searing pans, and the low murmur of Caitlyn Kiramman’s commanding voice. She stood at the head of the pristine workspace, clipboard in hand, already evaluating every aspect of the upcoming collaboration. Everything had to be perfect, down to the last grain of sea salt.
She glanced at her watch and frowned. “She’s late.”
Vi, or Violet as the press had once called her, was a name Caitlyn recognized instantly when the series was announced. A Michelin-starred prodigy, Vi had been a rising star in the culinary world—until she wasn’t. Burnout, scandal, or some combination had taken her out of the limelight. Caitlyn didn’t like to dwell on rumors, but she couldn’t help wondering if Vi had any spark left.

Vi appeared from the back kitchen and Cait felt a heat rising to her cheeks. Vi ran her fingers through her hair and Cait silently imploded. She was never one to fall in love at first sight, but Cait was speechless.
