Hitoshi rubs his eyes again, trying to get rid of the tears and letting out a pained gasp when his left eye throbs.
His father had hit him there before he pushed him out of the house and it's radiating a dull pain throughout his skull.
It's not the worst injury he's ever sustained, not the worst regarding the pain either, but it's just one more thing that brings tears to Hitoshi's eyes and it's just a stupid, horrible circle now, because the pain makes him cry and when he rubs his eyes it makes the pain worse and then he has to cry more and no amount of deep breaths does anything to help.
"Hey kid," a voice suddenly says and Hitoshi freezes mid-step, his breath getting caught in his throat.
He swallows heavily, before he cautiously, slowly raises his gaze and he comes face to face with—a homeless person?

Summary
Sometimes, Hitoshi pretended that Sensei was his dad. He'd never admit it in a thousand years, but sometimes when Aizawa patted his head or praised him for finally pulling off a move he'd been struggling with — he imagined that Todoroki was right.
Hitoshi always gave off that he was annoyed about Todoroki’s insistence that he was their teacher's secret love child, but in his head, he wished for it more than anything in the world. He wished that it was Aizawa and Yamada that he went home to every night instead of the Fukushimas. That he could call Eri his little sister instead of just someone he wished he could be.
(Or, stuck in an abusive foster home, Hitoshi is on the edge of his rope.)

Summary
Having Shinsou in their space is strange, but not quite as strange as Shouta feared it would be. All things considered, Shinsou settled in quite nicely with them, though Shouta guesses that has more to do with how accommodating Shinsou is, to the point where he basically melts into the background.
It sets Shouta's teeth on edge because it's more than obvious that it's a learned behaviour instead of something Shinsou is naturally inclined to and Shouta can just hope that eventually, he'll realise that he's wanted there with them.
For now, though, he has to watch as Shinsou squirrels his dinner away to his room and Shouta can't quite suppress the sigh that comes out.
