    He knocks. He waits. The door swings open to reveal a young man who's almost the spitting image of the Yuji he knows fifteen years from now.

    "Hello," says Itadori Jin, "do you need something?"

    He draws his shoulders back. "My name is Gojo Satoru. There are some things I need to talk to you about. Can I come in?"

    "Where are your parents?"

    Satoru elects to ignore that question. "It's about your wife."

    Satoru dies in winter in Shinjuku, twenty nine years old, and it's not on purpose, and it's not unwelcome. And then it's spring in Kyoto, he's thirteen, and Itadori Yuji has just been born.

    He's got some changes to make, if the world will let him.

    “Hey, isn’t this guy supposed to be dead?” Itadori grabbed Jogo’s severed arm which was holding his chin, and in a blink the flesh and blood practically minced itself into dust.

    A different voice replied, the mouth on Itadori’s cheek, full of sharp teeth and a deep smokey voice. “Kill him then.”

    Jogo leapt back, joining the two sorcerer girls to distance himself from what was clearly Sukuna.

    Itadori was on his feet in a blink, as if he was above the pedestrian act of scrambling off the floor. Head high, the corners of his mouth tugged oddly. He was the same boy Jogo had met while facing Gojo.

    Except standing before him, on this final night of October, Jogo could feel something about the boy’s presence lodge in his throat. Deep and black like murky waters, the weight of being near this Itadori made air in Jogo’s chest weigh him down. Crushing like the mountains crushing the organs and gnashing the bones of an ill fated spelunker.

    Yuji and Sukuna go places--- like a universe that's canon adjacent--- and kind of do their thing. (Can be read as a stand alone)

    Yuuji had turned his fingers into cursed objects, and he decided to live on as a curse.

    Why exactly?

    Simple: He wanted to help more people with the powers he had been gifted.

    The people in his life would've wanted him to live on to the fullest, but considering he was immortal and couldn't age, that was going to take a loooooooong time.

    So with a final goodbye to his remaining friends, Itadori initiated a ritual and put his soul into ten distinctive fingers, which he instructed to be put in shrines across Japan. His body was buried with respect, and Itadori walked away from the life he knew while his perception went dark for eons.

    Then, a boy in 3018 stumbled upon the ruins of the modern world and found a small box that had the finger labeled in a language no longer recognized, and out of curiosity about the contents, the boy ate it.

    And all of a sudden, a second voice spoke within the depths of his mind, kind and comforting in contrast to who the boy was in his past life.

    "Hey...nice to meet you."

    And the boy remembered.
