He watches the way the winged brat sits curled up in his corner, three years old, wings curled around himself, shielding him from the outside world. Kettie sometimes wonders what goes through that dirty little head, perhaps it’s something akin to that little girl selling matches in that one story, don’t ask him how he fucking knows it, he just fucking does. A happy family, surrounded by warmth and love, parents who love him, all the food he could ever want to chow down, a warm bath perhaps. Arms he can run into, a bed he can crawl into when he has nightmares, hands that don’t leave handprints and bruises on his body, hands that ruffle his hair, scratch his head, pet his wings, hands that are kind and gentle.
