Summary
Izuku Midoriya and Hitoshi Shinso are never going to be the kind of heroes that make civilains think ‘oh, thank god we’re saved,’ when they arrive at the scene. There's too much prejudice against them, so a kid with a villain quirk and one with no quirk at all are never going to be able to inspire that sort of trust.
So instead of becoming heroes that bring hope, they decide to become the next best thing.

Summary
“Why are you helping me move on from Kacchan?” Izuku questioned, hesitatingly placing a pair of Katsuki’s joggers onto the pile. Shoto shuffled awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck.
“I’ll tell you another time. When I’ve accepted it, and when you’re ready to hear it,” Shoto breathed out, relieved by the confusion that travelled across Izuku’s forest-like eyes.
In that moment, Shoto was glad that his crush was utterly oblivious, otherwise he feared it would ruin everything. The trust he built would tumble down, leaving them both alone again.
Izuku ripped each plaster off, tore away each bandage, with more determination than he ever thought was possible. Perhaps it was knowing that Shoto could re-plaster the wounds if they bled that pushed Izuku forwards. He was walking away from Katsuki’s heart and towards his own.

Summary
Midoriya Izuku found himself quirkless and at the non-existent mercy of his classmates as he entered middle school. Every day he survived, he was beating the odds. When he found the fighting ring, he expected to just become a living punching bag, really. He didn’t expect people to look past his quirklessness and take him under their wing, essentially training their own competition. He didn’t expect to get good at it, and he didn’t expect to be noticed when he did.
When Izuku and Katsuki got accepted into UA, the class cheered for Katsuki and jeered at Izuku for daring to pretend to be in the same league as someone like Katsuki, even when Izuku only managed to make it into general studies. So, Katsuki went to UA, and Izuku quietly said, “thanks for the opportunity, but no thanks,” and switched to an advanced online schooling option.
He had a feeling UA would ask too many questions about the constant bruising blooming so beautifully across his face that Aldera staff had so pointedly ignored. And even if UA didn’t ask questions about the bruises and abrasions on his face, they definitely would about the ones across his busted knuckles.
