For synesthete Till, Ivan is not just a person, his best friend, his bully, or his music's biggest fan; Ivan is colours, sounds, scents, & sensations all unique to him that give Till such incredible longing. As with everything else, though, Till feels Ivan will just tease him if he ever tried to tell him, so he keeps it to himself, along with all the tender feelings he holds for Ivan, despite their confusing relationship.
Ivan calls after school to ask if he can help with Till's insomnia, but it turns into Till confronting him about the bullying. Surprisingly, Ivan genuinely apologizes & tries to take responsibility, which he's never done before. Trying to keep the momentum, Till accepts his offer & Ivan intends to bore Till to sleep by reading from his homework. That is Absolutely Not what happens, but Ivan is sure under the impression it is.

“We finally meet again.”
Till’s face scrunches up like a crumpled piece of paper. His eyebrows are furrowed and up so high, his eyes squinting yet wide. And his lips curve in all directions. He’s using every single nerve to try to piece together what the fuck is happening.
He flicks his tongue at his bottom lip to wet it. Like when you lick your thumb to grip the page in a book, he’s trying to somehow grip a thought to form.
Till blinks, and then he asks an octave higher than he’s used to, “I’m sorry. Who are you?”
The pretty stranger, Till deems him. Looks at him with this blanched look. His eyes widen, which almost seems impossible with how big they already are. Like a deer in the headlights. And he looks almost sad.
A new student transfers to the small countryside; mysterious, handsome, and claiming to know Till. But Till has no memory or idea of who this stranger is, should he?

“So, how's the roommate situation?” Mizi’s pink hair falls around her face as she leans forward, entirely ignoring the textbook on the table in front of her.
“He’s–” Ivan collapses forward. He wants to bury his face into his hands as he conjures up images of Till–Till in the quad with a guitar in his lap, Till walking alongside him as they make their way to class, Till in his bed puzzling over some sheet music. He gathers himself and smiles calmly across the little cafe table. “He’s nice.”
