“Oscar’s the same. More like Charles than like me. Than like you. He’ll feel it heavier. Carry it longer. You mess him around, you won’t just hurt him, you’ll regret it yourself.”

“I know all that,” Lando says, arrogantly. Then, more quietly: “I thought I should tell you. In case you'll think differently of me.”
Oscar stares at him, those pretty blue eyes piercing right through his facade of calmness. It's hard for him to act around Lando, he's found. He always gets the feeling that Lando could see his dirtiest secrets with a single glance. It's illogical, but he likes the feeling it gives him, during their conversation. Like sparks igniting in his chest.
In the end, he settles for something simple.“The past is the past,” he says. “You're you. That's it.”
“And what do you think I am?”
“A massive fucking annoyance,” he answers, and Lando smirks at him.
