“Did you come here with Charlie?” Alex asks.
Nick’s puzzled, he doesn’t know a Charlie. “No, who is that?”
“I know him from the English lit program, bloody smart for a first year. I thought you two might have come together since he’s dressed as an angel.”
Nick can’t help but laugh, maybe a little louder than normal since he’s three drinks in. “You know you’re the third person who’s mentioned that to me, tonight.”
or: when tara & darcy drag nick to a halloween party last minute, his curiosity is piqued when everyone assumes he’s dressed in a couple’s costume with a boy he’s never met.

Summary
Six years ago, soon after Charlie started uni, Nick and Charlie broke up. And their lives have been fine since. Really. It’s fine.
Then they run into each other at a wedding, and it ignites a spark they had long since thought extinguished. But they can’t be long-distance again, they know it doesn’t work.
A relationship, anyway. The sex still seems to be good.
